AUSTIN (APRIL 30, 2021) – Spurs Sports Academy today announced that registration is now open for two new basketball camps to be held in the Austin area this summer. Campers will learn how great players think, practice and play and will benefit from focused skill workouts, team games, and daily leadership and character development training.
Skills Training Camps develop top-notch skills in a competitive environment. The June camp takes place at Brushy Creek Community Center in Round Rock Monday, June 7 through Friday, June 11 for campers ages 7-15. The July camp takes place at Central Texas Fieldhouse in Buda Monday, July 12 through Thursday, July 15 for campers ages 6-13.
“Spurs Sports Academy is excited to join up with the Austin Spurs in continuing the youth basketball camps this summer in Austin,” said Joe Clark, Spurs Sports & Entertainment, VP Youth Sports and Community Engagement. “The lessons will go beyond the fundamentals of the game. We want campers to learn life lessons that are valuable on and off the court by teaching them how to be great teammates and helping them build character.”
Spurs Sports Academy campers will receive the following as part of their camp registration:
Spurs Sports Academy reversible jersey
Opportunity to take a professional photo with the Austin Spurs championship trophies
Special guest appearances from an Austin Spurs player, coach, former player and/or Da Bull
Certificate of completion, character workbook sessions and end of camp awards ceremony
Spurs Basketball camp assessment on campers’ fundamental basketball skills (shooting, layups, passing, etc.) and Spurs values (work ethic, teamwork, attitude, leadership)
All coaches, staff members and athletes will undergo a health screening and temperature check prior to entry each day. Attendees will be required to wear a mask during camp and can remove them while eating or drinking. Additional health and safety protocols can be found at Spurs.com/CampSafety.
