AUSTIN (Nov. 15, 2023) – The Austin Spurs (1-2) fell short to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (1-2), 136-116, at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park on Wednesday night.
Dominick Barlow led the Spurs with a career-high of 35 points on 15-of-22 from the field. Erik Stevenson recorded his first double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Blake Wesley added 13 points and 5 assists.
The Vipers were able to take an early lead by 11 in the first quarter and finished the opening period with a 38-27 lead. Midway through the second quarter, the Spurs went on a 13-0 run that helped put Austin ahead by one at the end of the first half, 66-65. In the third, Cam Whitmore scored 14 of his 29 points in the frame alone that helped push the Vipers to a 103-95 lead. The momentum continued in the fourth for Rio Grande till the final buzzer to seal the win.
Daruis Days led Rio Grande Valley with 31 points on 14-of-17 from the field and grabbed 17 rebounds. Jermaine Samuels Jr. notched a double-double with 29 points and 10 rebounds.
