BRENT BARRY NAMED AUSTIN SPURS GENERAL MANAGER
Sean O’Gara Joins Team as Head Athletic Trainer
AUSTIN (Sept. 23, 2022) – The Austin Spurs today announced that Brent Barry has been named the team’s General Manager, while Sean O’Gara will serve as Head Athletic Trainer.
Barry has been part of the Spurs front office since 2018 and will continue as San Antonio’s Vice President of Basketball Operations while leading Austin. Barry played four seasons for the Silver and Black from 2004-08, where he helped the Spurs to two titles in 2005 and 2007. He was originally drafted by the Denver Nuggets with the No. 15 pick in the 1995 NBA Draft. After a 14-year NBA career with the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Seattle SuperSonics, Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers, he joined the Turner Sports network as an analyst in 2010. The 1996 Slam Dunk Contest champion holds career averages of 9.3 points, 3.2 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 912 NBA games and ranks 28th all-time in three-point percentage (.405). Barry played college basketball for Oregon State from 1991-1995, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology.
O’Gara joins the Spurs following his most recent role as a physical therapist and athletic trainer with Baptist Health – Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute. He held the same position with Integrated Rehabilitation Services from Sept. 2021 to April 2022 after serving as a sports medicine intern with the New Orleans Saints at their 2021 summer training camp. O’Gara has also spent time as an athletic trainer for Hartford Healthcare Sports Medicine and served as an athletic trainer for club and intramural sports teams for the University of Miami Health and Wellness Center. O’Gara earned his doctorate of physical therapy from the University of Miami in 2021 and received his Bachelor of Science in athletic training from Springfield College in 2018. The Vernon, Connecticut native is a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
