Austin Spurs Acquire Nick Johnson

Austin, TX December 28, 2015 – The Austin Spurs, presented by SWBC, today announced they have acquired guard Nick Johnson from the available player pool.  Johnson will join the team on the road in San Antonio in time for Tuesday’s game against the Santa Cruz Warriors at the AT&T Center at 7:30 p.m.

Johnson (6-3/202, Arizona) was selected 42nd overall by the Houston Rockets in the 2014 NBA Draft.  He played in 28 games during the 2014-15 season for Houston, averaging 2.6 points and 1.4 rebounds in 9.4 minutes of play before being traded to the Denver Nuggets, where he appeared in six preseason games.  In his junior year at Arizona, Johnson was named Pac-12 Player of the Year in addition to receiving First-Team All-Pac-12 and Pac-12 All-Defensive Team honors.  In 38 games, he averaged 16.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 33.1 minutes.

Johnson will wear jersey No. 31 when Austin takes on Santa Cruz tomorrow night, Dec. 29 in San Antonio for the team’s first-ever contest at the AT&T Center.  For more information, visit or call (512) 236-8333.
